Geology and Mineral Potential of the Paleoproterozoic River Valley Intrusion and Related Rocks, Grenville Province
註釋This report summarizes the results of four different projects 1999-2003 that focussed on rocks of the East Bull Lake intrusive suite, located about 45 kilometres east-northeast of Sudbury, Ontario. This suite has been the subject of intensive exploration for copper, nickel, & platinum group elements since fall 1998. The main purpose of the projects was to better understand the setting, distribution, form, & composition of the River Valley intrusion, a Paleoproterozoic mafic intrusion in the study area; to determine the relationship of the River Valley intrusion to other Paleoproterozoic mafic intrusions; and to determine its platinum group element potential. The first section of the report describes the regional geological setting, including major fault systems, the Archean to Neoproterozoic country rocks, regional metamorphism & structure, geophysical patterns, and the industrial mineral potential of the country rocks. The second part details the geology, geochemistry, and mineral potential of the igneous rocks of the East Bull Lake intrusive suite, with emphasis on the River Valley intrusion.
