註釋
This paper explores how the capacity and energy of older Australians can be enabled by digital technology, drawing on interviews with government and sector experts, representatives, and advocates. The interviews explored three key questions: How might greater reliance on digital technology negatively affect social and economic participation in later life? What are the key opportunities that digital technology might create when it comes to supporting social and economic participation in later life? What actions or resources are needed to ensure that the risks are minimised and the opportunities can be realised? The findings are discussed around the themes of: redefining later life; the 'two sides' of digital technology and lifelong participation; minimising physical and cognitive limitations; bridging geographic distance; maximising social, intellectual and financial capital; access to information and education; efficient connections; and access to digital technology becomes a requirement for participation.
