註釋
This report summarises what is known about human trafficking involving marriage and partner migration to Australia, and the exploitation of migrant brides. Drawing on victim/survivor testimonies, stakeholder knowledge and expertise, and reported cases in the justice system, it describes the nature of this crime, experiences of exploitation, the context in which it occurs, emerging themes, gaps in the research, and prevention and intervention strategies, including education for migrants, enhanced immigration policies, and online dating safety measures. The report confirms that marriage has been used to recruit or attract women to Australia for the purposes of exploitation as domestic servants, to provide private or commercial sexual services, or to be exploited in the home as wives.
