註釋Memoirs (in fictionalized form) of a Romanian Jewish woman, born in Frumosul (Bukovina) in 1925. She relates antisemitic incidents in the prewar period, the effect of events in Nazi Germany on relations between Romanian and German communities in the area, and the impact of the anti-Jewish legislation. Recounts her deportation, with her family, in 1940 to Gura Humorului and in 1941 to Transnistria, where they were detained in Mogilev and Murafa. They were liberated by the Soviets in March 1944, and returned to Romania. Sand-Landau emigrated to Israel in 1950.
