Life on the Streets
註釋Do you really want to experience life on the streets for real? Well hear from someone who knows how it feels to have nothing, no-one and nowhere to call home. She describes in detail what it feels like knowing as soon as you wake up it's a fight to get through that day, and the next, and the next. To keep going even though all you really want to do is turn over and give up. What it's like to be in so much, unbearable pain, with hunger you cannot describe. To feel so low that jumping in front of a car seems like the only solution. Walking all night to find somewhere to rest. Being bullied or no reason, other than the fact that you are dirty, skinny and smelly. When my husband was severely depressed and someone who we classed as a friend, was very rude and didn't want to understand, I promised everyone that I would write a story that included depression; in a subtle way to teach people all about the affects and consequences of depression. KIM WARDThere have been many books written about being homeless, living on the streets, being un-loved, being abandoned, well this one will have you in tears, as you feel her pain and leaves you smiling when she finds happiness.I have written many titles now, but this one is a lot different. I have used personal experiences of mine and people I know to build this powerful story. I'm not going to give anything away, except get the tissues ready. I hope that the young adults and other readers who get to experience this true and up-lifting story take something away with them and next time the thought in their heads or words from their lips are "I would be better off on the streets," they stop and think about the character in this story and how they fought to get the opposite.
