Westward Region Hydroacoustic Survey for Black Rockfish Sebastes Melanops Abundance, 2007-2022
註釋This report summarizes the results of hydroacoustic surveys for black rockfish Sebastes melanops distribution and abundance in the Westward Region by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) between 2007 and 2022. The survey informs the harvest strategy of commercial and sport fisheries in all districts of the Kodiak, Chignik, and South Alaska Peninsula Management Areas (KMA, CMA, and SAPMA, respectively). Rockfish abundance is calculated from the processed hydroacoustic data using an application of standard sampling theory based on a Horvitz-Thompson estimator. Species determination from Sebastes genera in mixed rockfish schools was done by analysis of underwater video data collected from rockfish concentrations observed during the acquisition of the hydroacoustic echogram. Black rockfish abundance data are summarized by the smallest commercial fishing management unit implicated when a fishery is prosecuted, generally district level for the KMA, areawide for the CMA, and section level in the SAPMA.
