Thomas Penn
註釋This volume consists of copies of Thomas Penn's letters, 1752-1772, primarily written to Peters and copied by Thomas Balch (1821-1877), Pennsylvania historian, during the 1850s. The originals are in the possession of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. The letters are replete with information on colonial history and government, including negotiations with the Indian Confederation, the collecting of quitrents, ejections for nonpayment, the organization and sale of lands, street planning, the arrival of German immigrants, provincial elections, Penn's disputes with the assembly, the drawing of the Mason-Dixon line, and Penn's frequent conflicts with Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790).
