註釋The Highlands of Scotland after the Clearances of the late 1700s was an unforgiving environment to raise a family. Labouring to make a living called for long, hard days toiling at whatever endeavours a family could manage, often at the family croft.Part history, part recollection from someone who lived the life, this story is centered on the Thomson family croft called 'Croftindaker', located near Knockando, in the central Highlands of Scotland. Home of the Thomson family for just on 200 years, Croftindaker saw many generations come and go, though it currently lies in ruins. Many of these generations left their native Scotland looking for adventures in other parts of the world, including Australia, Canada and South Africa. Some returned, many didn't. This is their story.
