James Marie Hopper Papers
註釋Contains correspondence and writings by Hopper, along with a small amount of personal and biographical material, notes, clippings, and articles concerning Hopper and others, particularly George Sterling and other members of the Carmel, Calif. artists' colony. Correspondence includes letters from friends, publishers, and other authors, including one from Joseph Conrad. Family correspondence includes Hopper's letters to his mother, a small amount of correspondence with his twin brother, John, and other miscellaneous family letters, plus letters written by various persons to Hopper's first wife, Mattie, while she was living in France. The bulk of the collection consists of manuscripts of Hopper's short stories and articles, including those written while a foreign correspondent during World War I. Also includes copies of poems written by Nora May French and George Sterling, receipts for the purchase of Hopper's Carmel house from Carrie Sterling, and letters written to Mrs. Elayne Hopper Chanslor in 1961-62 by James D. Hart, Director of The Bancroft Library concerning the collection and publishers.
