Europe's Environment
註釋Europe's environment : the third assessment, is the most comprehensive up-to-date overview currently available of the state of the environment on this continent. It covers for the first time the whole of the Russian federation and central Asia. The report also analyses how the main economic driving forces put pressure on the European environment and identifies other key areas where further action is needed. Europe's environment : the third assessment has been compiled with input from more than 100 environmental specialists across Europe working with a team at the European Environment Agency. It formed a key contribution to the fifth meeting of environment ministers of all European countries in Kiev, Ukraine, in May 2003, under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe where ministers appraised progress in implementing the Environment for Europe process. The European Environment Agency has been involved in preparing background documentation for this process for more than a decade. Two previous 'Europe's environment reports' were published in 1995 and 1998 respectively for previous ministerial conferences, here too providing a unique basis for the policy discussions.
