註釋
Contains two diaries kept by Lord, a member of the Dartmouth College Class of 1910. The first diary, from January 1908 to December 1912, describes his daily life as an undergraduate, with lectures, sporting events, and leisure activities. In the fall of 1910 he moved to South End House, a settlement house in Boston, founded by William Jewett Tucker. The second diary covers his trip to Europe from June 30 to September 14, 1910. Directly after commencement in June, he travelled to Montreal with two friends. From there they worked their passage across the Atlantic as handlers on a cattle ship, landing in Manchester, England. Lord tells how they explored towns and cities in England, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and the U.S.
