Internationalisation of Central Victorian Enterprises with Respect to Opportunities in the Chinese Market
註釋This report is an application of internationalisation and international market selection theories to the case of firms in the Central Victorian regions of Bendigo and Castlemaine. It was mainly focused on pre-exporting and exporting behaviour due to the degree of internationalisation of these firms that were still in the early stages of the internationalisation process. The aim was to disclose and evaluate the significance of the determinants of internationalisation of Central Victorian small firms and to analyse the capability and readiness of these firms' to seize the opportunities in the Chinese market. This study relied on quantitative and qualitative data collected via a questionnaire distributed to 147 Central Victorian firms. The most important determinants were found to be the management attitude toward exporting and their knowledge of the target market. Firm size was also found to have positive influence on export behaviour. On the basis of these findings, to seize the opportunities in China seemed to be a difficult task for Central Victorian firms.
