註釋
On 22 April 1500, Portuguese navigator Pedro Alves Cabral landed at Porto Seguro on the coast of the State of Bahia. This date is celebrated as the day of discovery of the country that was to be called Brazil, due to a flame-colored wood, pau-brasil, found along the coastline. From 1549 onward, the town of Salvador da Bahia was the nations first capital, to be succeeded by Rio de Janeiro in 1763 and Brasília in 1960. The country is divided into five regions: the NORTH has a humid tropical climate and includes the Amazon rainforest, the NORTHEAST has beautiful and world famous beaches, the CENTERWEST with his fertile savannas and forests, the subtropical SOUTHEAST, the country's industrial hub, and the temperate SOUTH, with its sub-zero winters, a region of pastures and well-developed industry. Discover this fascinating area through the eyes of the photographers Felix Richter and Martin Fiegl.
