Planting the Province
註釋A publication of the Ontario Historical Studies Series on behalf of the Government of Ontario. McCalla (history, Trent U.) provides a comprehensive account of the way in which a small group of settlements on the margin of the North Atlantic became a prosperous society in a process that was balanced and relatively self-sustaining. He sets the economic history of Upper Canada in the context of the dynamic economy of the North Atlantic world, and draws useful comparisons with other parts of that world, particularly states such as Michigan and Ohio which were developing along similar lines.
