The Use of Explosives in a Fallout Shelter Building Program
註釋This report summarizes the results of experiments made for the purpose of determining the feasibility of using explosives as a substitute for or as an aid to conventional earth-moving equipment for excavating in a fallout shelter building program. Developed as part of the study were soil factors to relate explosive effects to a range of soil conditions, a basic theory and formulas for string-shot effects, and a simple means of detonating fertilizer grade ammonium nitrate. The evidence presented in this report suggests that the concept is feasible under limited conditions. Recommendations for further study are made.
