註釋
The Isaac Reed papers are comprised of military memoranda and handwritten correspondence from military personnel written between 1812 and 1818, when Isaac Reed was serving as a colonel within the Eleventh Division of the Militia of the Commonwealth (Massachusetts). The correspondence primarily deals with military and personnel matters, including regimental orders, military rosters, and the discipline of a lieutenant. The memoranda were written between December 1812 and April 1814; they primarily concern military elections and the delivery of correspondence amongst commanding officers. An incomplete draft of a letter concerns a complaint against a fellow officer. The document labeled "Memoranda" may be the "reports" mentioned by Alfred Hovey in the letter dated September 13, 1814. Reed fought in the regiment of Lt. Col. Samuel Thatcher in the War of 1812. Other names mentioned in the correspondence are William King and Samuel Page. Also includes a typed memoranda dated December 7, 1930 identifying the correspondents in the collection.
