Birds were censused throughout the year on nine study plots in the central Pine Barrens to determine population densities and habitat preferences of birds in typical Pine Barrens habitats. Patterns of habitat use and abundance for 147 species and present density data for permanent residents, summer residents, winter residents and migrants in typical habitats are described.
