註釋
SystemX is a natural language interface to relational databases. The system has been used with a customer service statistical database, a research grants database, and an environmental database. Distinctive features of SystemX include its use of head-driven phrase structure grammar, treatment of complex noun phrases, integration of natural language with other input modes, use with a statistical database, and field-testing and evaluation in a real-world application. This paper reviews the theoretical background of SystemX, the properties of its application to a cable television system customer database, details of its interface which translates questions in ordinary English into SQL (structured query language), the actual use of SystemX as illustrated in an example session, and the results of the evaluation.
