A Statistical Mechanics Approach to the Interpretation of Transition Flow
註釋The transition to turbulence of an invicid fluid is studies using a 2D Particle-in-Cell approach. This numerical technique is chosen because of the strong correlation with modern experimental methods such as pulsed laser speckle interferometry. The interpretation of the results in both cases are amenable to the techniques of statistical mechanics. These are used to analyse scale lengths of vorticity, thermal transport, the signature of turbulence and the analogy between decent to turbulence and chaotic theories.
