註釋William Gilliland lived in Ireland. He joined the Royal Army in the 1750s and fought in the French and Indian Wars. After his discharge he remained in New York and founded the towns of Willsboro, Westport and Elizabethtown in Essex County. Includes his journal entries from 1763 to 1776.
