Mary Edwell- Burke
註釋This compilation, in chronological order - prepared by Margaret Bain, volunteer researcher at the New England Regional Art Museum - of press clippings, list of works and bibliographical references documents the life and work of the Australian artist Mary Edwell-Burke (also known as Mary Edwards). She is mostly known for her protest about the awarding of the Archibald Prize to William Dobell in 1943 for his portrait of Joshua Smith, and the subsequent court case. This compilation was based on resources such as the artist's papers held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales National Art Archive, New England Regional Art Museum research library, online resources and the National Library of Australia's Trove website.
