She is mostly known for her protest about the awarding of the Archibald Prize to William Dobell in 1943 for his portrait of Joshua Smith, and the subsequent court case. This compilation was based on resources such as the artist's papers held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales National Art Archive, New England Regional Art Museum research library, online resources and the National Library of Australia's Trove website.
