註釋As depth psychologists believe, regardless of the therapist's theoretical orientation or the intervention employed, it is the therapeutic relationship itself that is responsible for change. Jungian analysts believe specifically that this process of transformation occurs for both the client and the therapist. This dissertation explores the notion that destiny is involved in the formation of such important encounters. The phenomenological research study investigates the experience of soul in relationships, specifically in the dynamics of therapeutic relationships as experienced by 12 clinician participants. Results of the research indicated that there are potentially destined relationships and that one of the more common suggestions of this phenomenon lies in the mirroring relationships discussed between helping professionals and their clients. Lionel Corbett's conception that spirituality is, in fact, part of clinicians' practice suggests that acknowledging a spiritual connection between patient and psychotherapist--one that reveals the possibility of a fated meeting or a sacred contract of sorts--is at the heart of this therapeutic work. Essentially, appreciating the presence of soul in the therapeutic relationship leads therapists toward a relevant and growing calling in psychotherapy: one that honors and integrates body, mind, and soul in this work.
