註釋In editing this book we have consulted 552 speeches, 92 messages, 38 interviews, and 12 other texts made public in full, in total 694 statements made over 34 years by José Eduardo dos Santos, in his capacity as President of the Republic of Angola, President of the MPLA, and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces. From these statements, we have extracted 1,501 quotations organized around 72 thematic areas and divided into three volumes: the first covers the 1st Republic (1979-1992); the second focuses on the first half of the 2nd Republic (1992-2004), and the third addresses the second half of the 2nd Republic (2004-2012), and includes the beginning of the 3rd Republic (9/26/2012) until the end of 2013. The organizer of this book has sole responsibility for the definition of themes and the selection of quotations. As for the words, they are strictly those of José Eduardo dos Santos, President of the Republic of Angola.
