The collection contains transcriptions of six letters (1927-1928) to Father Stephen J. Sullivan from his older brother, Father Ambrose Sullivan, St. Francis Xavier Parish, Missoula, Montana. The letters are devoted to a discussion of Stephen Sullivan's proposed biography of Father Pierre De Smet. Ambrose was a Jesuit and had access to much information and material on DeSmet. Also included in the collection is a letter (1935) to Stephen Sullivan from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, soliciting his advice concerning conditions in Townsend. (Small Collection 19).
