The Saint Elias
註釋Considered one of the most complete and endearing tales of the great writer Jacques Ferron, Le Saint-Élias, published in 1972, explores the real and the imaginary by exploring the universal themes of life, death and love. Jacques Ferron transports the reader to a fanciful universe in a language with tender and poetic accents. When the steamships arrived, the sailboats were gradually abandoned by the sailors. The Saint-Elias, a huge sailboat named in honor of the parish priest of Batiscan, Elias Tourigny, is loved by members of the Cossette family. From Marguerite, the mother, to Mithridates III, her grandson, through Armor Lupien, the young vicar and Doctor Fauteux, many characters will try to restore it to its former nobility.
