註釋
This book contains the story of Haing Ngor, who survived the Pol-Pot-regime, which ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1978. Born in a tranquil Cambodia, Haing Ngor grew up in a close-knit family and made his way through medical school. After 1975, he lost his family and had to disguise his profession. He was sent to labour camps and tortured, before he could escape to Thailand and, later on, to the U.S. Today, Haing Ngor works for the integration of Cambodian refugees in the U.S., he also was actor in the movie "Killing Fields", which depicted the "Cambodian Odyssey" in the mid-seventies. (DÜI-Sbt).
