註釋James Holton was born 21 June 1830 in Tingwick, Buckinghamshire, England. His parents were James Holton and Marriah Bale. He married Mary Ann Crumb (1838-1878), daughter of Arnold Crumb and Martha, 24 January 1856. They had ten children. He married Abby Ellen Benson in 1878. He died 18 March 1917 In Pennsylvania. Includes a transcription of Joseph T. Holton's journal and the Civil War memoirs of Philip Petty.
