註釋This paper focuses on the attitudes, preferences, behavior, and practices of individuals as they impinge on the environmental and ecological health of ten Canadian cities. An introductory section reviews previous surveys. The present work used about half of the variables in those surveys to develop quality-of-life indices in eleven domains such as physical environment, housing, leisure, and personal safety. The paper explores the relationship of these indices to each other, to an overall index of quality of urban life, and to environmental concerns. The work pays special attention to the relationship between views and opinions on topics related to urban environments and major issues on sustainable cities, as well as to the use of urban transportation systems by urban dwellers.
