Technology and the Raj
註釋An AltaMira Press Book This study analyses the roots of India's underdevelopment through a detailed examination of financial administration in the nineteenth century. Adopting an entirely new methodology, Dr. Banjeri provides a fresh perspective on India's economic stagnation using a multisectoral approach. The author quantifies specific aspects of the colonial economy; he draws linkages between the government's fiscal polocies and elements of the economy which have a crucial bearing on the nature of growth. These include taxation, expenditure, the extent of government investment, and the role of the government in the external sector. An analytic work which explores the interrelationships between three crucial sectors of the economy-finance, investment and the external sector.
