Included are letters to and from Nevada politicians Pat McCarran, Berkeley L. Bunker, Edward P. Carville, George W. Malone, Tasker Oddie, Key Pittman, James G. Scrugham, and Walter S. Baring; and from Harry S. Bunker, treasurer of Speidel Newspapers, Inc. Most letters contain frank exchanges of opinions on political issues of importance to Nevada, and in some cases, on the selection of future political candidates. The McCarran series is especially valuable, demonstrating the operation of McCarran's political machine. McDonald's correspondence with Harry Bunker discusses the business operations of the Nevada State Journal.
