A Linear Induction Motor Conveyer
註釋The subject of the paper is a linear induction motor conveyer; a completely new conveying system in which the only moving parts are the items being conveyed. Such a conveying system has many advantages, among which are its extremely high reliability and high flexibility. A linear motor conveyer consists of a series of coils embedded in an iron core, above which non-ferrous metal parts are placed. Movement of these parts results from the interaction of two traveling magnetic waves. One wave is created by three phase current flowing through the coils, and the other wave results from a current induced in the parts. Such a conveyer is constructed and then studied with respect to efficiency and feasibility. It is found that on a cost basis, such conveyers are feasible for lengths up to seven feet. However, because of their many advantages over conventional conveyers, they can be justified for greater lengths. (Author).
