註釋In a richly illustrated publication, curators Bettina MacAulay and Desmond MacAulay bring new research to the development of the Stuartholme-Behan Collection of Australian Art. They explore Dr Norman Behan's motivations for collecting and for gifting the works to the Society of the Sacred Heart and the Stuartholme School in the early 1960s, before entrusting them to the custodianship of the University in 1975. In a series of thematic essays, the authors also discuss the 96 individual works comprising the Collection, by artists such as Rupert Bunny, Bessie Gibson, George Lambert, Max Meldrum and Jon Molvig, together with several works gifted to the University by Dr Behan. This publication will long endure as the key reference work on this Collection. It accompanies a major exhibition of the same name at the UQ Art Museum (14 May to 12 September 2010). At 164 pages, the publication includes a list of works (with artist biographies, provenance and exhibition details), and selected bibliography.
