註釋
This is a study of the stock market as it operates and functions today. It is written for the serious observer and student of the market, whether he be an investor or trader, a staff member of a brokerage firm, or a college student. College instructors in courses in the stock market or the securities markets will find that the book is organized for use as a text for a one-semester course. Both practice and theory are combined in such a way as to find maximum usefulness for college teaching. The college student will find in the book a complete description of the entire securities market. Particular attention has been given to the economic functions performed by such markets and their place in the economic life of which we are a part. The college student is shortly to become a business or professional man; he will then become a potential investor or trader in stocks and bonds. It is therefore of the highest practical importance that he know the essential relationships between customers and brokers and the way trading and investing in stocks are carried on. He should know how the securities business operates, if for no other reason than to avoid the pitfalls which ensnare so many unwary followers of the market. The author attempted to cover in as exhaustive a manner as possible all aspects of the stock market. Although highly technical operations of the market are included in the book, the author at all times has sought to reduce them to clear, non- technical descriptions understandable to readers not directly employed in the securities business.
