Irish Influence at the Court of Spain in the Seventeenth Century
註釋The period beginning in the 1590s saw a stream of Irish migrants into Spanish Flanders and Spain itself. This book studies how these people fared and how leading figures within the Irish migrant community sought to influence Spanish foreign policy in favour of Irish Catholics' struggle for independence of a sort. It concentrates mainly on the 1640s - theÃ?Â?Ã?Â?rebellion of 1641, the Confederate war, diplomacy in Spain, France and Rome, and the influence of Spanish/French rivalry on events in Ireland.
