"Let The Light In" is a collection of poetry about the author, Amanda Olejniczak's ongoing journey grieving and healing. Amanda reported a family member for inappropriate behavior years after the abuse took place. This resulted in many family members abandoning her, believing the abuser, and thinking she was just severely mentally ill, making everything up; in the dark chaos, Amanda found comfort in writing poems. That does not dismiss the fact that some days, weeks, or even months at a time are still very difficult. Hours spent ruminating on what could have been had she not made the report and just kept living life as if everything were fine, crying, sobbing, or replaying old conversations to try and make sense of them. "Let The Light In" is not a story of how things magically fell into place for Amanda after making a police report. This is, however, a story of how Amanda came into her truth and into herself as a person living her life according to that truth. It was not an easy ride, and it is no way over, but she's letting that yellow glow of the light in, bit by bit through all of the broken parts, to help her heal.
