註釋This collection consists of a photocopy of one hand-written journal (1884), and one original (1884), with full typescripts for each. There are two journals for the same time period; one describing his trip from England to Montana, and the other relating the business aspects of his trip. One of the purposes of the trip was to investigate accusations made against the mine manager Mr. Attwood, who was accused of overcharging equipment providers and pocketing the monies.
