Discussions were held with plant operational management to determine coal industry interest in process-control development and priorities regarding specific plant circuits. This report evaluates the results of the survey, focuses on the on-line process-control and instrumentation applications, presents research and development directions for coal preparation process control, and outlines a 5 year strategy for the Coal Research Laboratory of CANMET.
