This collection contains 237 photocopies of holographic letters written to the wife of Nathan J. Rhodes of Maquoketa, Iowa from 1862-1865 from different locations. The content of the letters includes information about camp life, the movement of troops, the health of soldiers, the conditions in camps and in the hospitals. They also contain information about various skirmishes, an account of the Siege of Vicksburg, and the cost of food.
