Botanist Bertram Whittier Wells belonged to the first generation of North American plant ecologists who worked during the years 1900-1950. He pioneered the study of the ecology of the vegetation of the southeastern United States. This collection contains a reprint of Wells' "Carolina Bays: Additional Data on Their Origin, Age and History" (co-authored with Steve G. Boyce), correspondence supporting Wells' research in the area of the evolution of execute (galls), and a typewritten list of "Pictures given to friends painted by B.W. Wells."
