註釋Cadet letter from Theodore Weisman Davis to his parents Joseph Jacob Davis and Elizabeth Weisman Davis, July 11, 1936 describing cadet basic training, sometimes known as "beast barracks", instances of fellow cadets fainting, and enumerating the many duties assigned to new cadets. Davis thanks his parents for their frequent letters and asks his dad to cut out the baseball scores and standings he also requests they send a newspaper once a week, a toothbrush and some Gillette blades.
