註釋
Performance in free fall of 27 model parachutes of various designs was determined by drop tests conducted in the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation airship dock at Akron, Ohio. Models of approximately 16,000 square inches of cloth surface area were tested to determine the influence of the shape of the canopy (type) and the rate of descent on the drag and stability of spacific types of parachutes. The influence of the shroud-line length on the aerodynamic characteristics and the stability of the solid-flat 10% extended-skirt parachute was also investigated. All models were tested at vertical terminal velocities of approximnately 10, 15, 25, and 40 feet per second for both vertical and horizontal types of release.
