Salamis and the Salaminioi
註釋Salamis and the Salaminioi for the first time provides a thorough investigation of the people of the island of Salamis and their status in the Classical period. The first part of the work surveys the sixth-century history of the island, and challenges the communis opinio that Salamis was a klerouchy. Part II considers the setting and organization of the Classical community on the island - here called an “unofficial” demos. Part III investigates the demos during the tumultuous third century. Salamis and the Salaminioi will be an invaluable addition to the libraries of all those interested in Athenian history and citizenship, the Kleisthenic deme system, Hellenistic Athens, and rural Attica.
