Tradition and Exegesis in Early Christian Writers
註釋This collection of essays has two main themes. The first is unity and diversity in the pre-Constantinian church; the variety of traditions which came together to form main-stream Christianity as we know it. The second is biblical exegesis and its contribution to the history of ideas. Among the particular topics dealt with by Caroline Bammel are early attitudes towards the Gospel of St John; the thought of Origen, for instance on the subject of Jewish-Christian relations or, his Pauline exegesis; and the position of Augustine, especially in relation to Manchaeism and to the development of the Pelagian controversy.
