Curious Annals
註釋Translations of original documents found in the Cortona codex. Browning had originally bought a manuscript called the Old yellow book, a "collection of printed and manuscript documents which Browning had bought in Florence, and on which he based the tale told in The ring and the book", concerning a Roman murder trial from the 17th century. This Cortona codex "consisted entirely of documents dealing with the personages and events of the Comparini-Franceschini relationship [found in the Old yellow book] and that about half these documents contained material which had hitherto been unknown."--Introduction.
