註釋Midlife is a time of stress, achievement and evaluation. Middle adults or midlifers, aged 35 to 55 experience life changes which are parts of the so-called "midlife transition". The researcher and her colleagues, midlifers themselves, experienced some of these changes. Realizing this, she was motivated to conduct this study which aimed to identify and focus on the significant relationships and differences of the emotions, stress as well as the coping responses of faculty career midlifers by certain demographic variables. The research design used is the descriptive-correlational design. The respondents consisted of 163 midlife faculty members aged 35-55 from the 13 different colleges of the University of Santo Tomas. Three standardized instruments were used to obtain their emotional profile, stress and coping methods and these were: the Emotions Profile Index (EPI), Stress Management Questionnaire (SMQ) and Coping Responses Inventory (CRI). Results revealed that there are significant relationships between some emotions and stress as well as the some emotion and coping of the participants in terms of the demographic variables. Furthermore, there are also significant differences between the emotions of the respondents in terms of gender, age, civil status, college affiliation, years of teaching experience and religion; and between their coping responses in terms of years of teaching experience; Based on these findings, the researcher developed a proposed reality coping to enhance their emotional maturity, live a less stressful, healthier and more positive life.
