註釋 This report provides considerable detail on the successes and failures of the investment strategies utilized by Native beneficiaries, and summarizes the inherent conflicts between the immediate expectations of wealth and the reality of implementing a long-term investment strategy. It examines what economic benefits are pending settlement of the Dene/Metis and Tungavik Federation of Nunavut claims. It also discusses the potential impact of the cash compensation component of claims settlements on the economy of the NWT. In addition, it examines the role of government in the NWT and considers how it might assist in the implementation of claim settlements. It presents and discusses four scenarios for the investment of claims cash, and four distinct groups of recommendations to both the GNWT and the land claims beneficiaries.
