註釋
Using an array of illustrations, many from the Air Force's recently declassified Project Blue Book files, David Knight traces the history of strange objects in the skies. Were there ancient UFOs piloted by "astronauts" from other worlds who visited Earth in the distant past? Part One explores such possibilities as Biblical prophets having seen UFOs, ancient "landing fields" on a Peruvian plain, an "astronaut" at the controls of a "space ship" carved on a tomb in Mexico, and many more. Part Two examines UFOs of the last century through World War II, including the eerie "airships" seen by thousands of Americans in the 1890s and the mysterious "foo-fighters" that chased Allied bombers over Hitler's Germany. Part Three takes the reader on a picture tour of the Modern UFO Age, from Kenneth Arnold's famous "flying saucer" sighting in 1947 through the U.S. Air Force's UFO investigations in the 1950s. Part Four concludes the tour with famous UFOs of the 1960s and 1970s.
