Strain Rate and Temperature Controls on Strain Heterogeneity
註釋The conflict in analytical structural geology between the natural heterogeneity of strain and the common assumption of homogeneous strain needs to be investigated. The present study evaluates the effect of temperature and strain rate on the promotion of homogenous strain in an experimentally deformed oolitic limestone. In addition, a simple method of quantitatively measuring variations in the degree of strain homogeneity is presented. The experimental results are used to investigate the proposal by Wood (1974) for determining strain history from the heterogeneity of strain displayed by individual strain markers. The analytical methods which are based on the assumption of homogeneous strain are also critically evaluated.
