Ariel - the Postwar Models
註釋Here is the Ariel story in great detail. In many ways a curious company it stood out from 'standard British motorcycle' manufacturers in those postwar days when the bulk of the industry could be described as just maintianing the status quo. Its model range, even when effectively blanketed by BSA, was interesting and often exciting. The bikes were more than just reliable workhorses (no pun intended); they had an aura of sprightliness combined with purpose which other seldom achieved. The Square 4 (cylinder) machine was unusual and exciting, turning heads wherever it went. The solid twins were a cut above some others of their ilk, often seen by owners as just friends. The big singles did stirling service for numerous riders, often doubling as everyday commuter, a bit of racing or touring at the weekend and then back to work again on Monday; all without protest. Then there was a certain four stroke trails machine. Apart from other unloveds (by most) there were finally the two-stroke twins, which in hindsight can be described as 'futurethink' for their day. An interesting range. ARIEL - THE POSTWAR MODELS delves into the detail of the bikes' development stories in the usual Osprey Collector's Library styly. No enthusiast is goint to be disppointed, there is more fresh information and photographs than ever before. (Inside cover)
