Scrapbooks, Burr's Library Index and other volumes filled with notes and newspaper clippings on various aspects of genealogy and Farmington, Connecticut, history compiled by Julius Gay, the town historian of Farmington. The volumes contain names, arranged alphabetically, that were taken by Gay from manuscripts and printed sources; sources for towns and villages in New England, alphabetically arranged by town; historical subject sources, arranged alphabetically by topic; historical notes on Farmington history, Farmington men's names found in printed books, houses in Farmington; vital records from the Connecticut Courant, 1764-1841, arranged by last name; a scrapbook with clippings on articles on the early history of New Britain Society, articles on the preservation of records, historical articles on Farmington, Barkhamsted and Unionville, and obituaries; and one collection of genealogical correspondence, 1880-1891, with letters from such individuals as Lucius M. Boltwood, Franklin B. Dexter, George E. Hoadley, D. Williams Patterson, Frank F. Starr, Mary Kay Talcott, Strong Wadsworth and William H. Webster.
